Did you know June 21st is the first official day of Summer?! Well, get ready for all things Summer and kick it off this Tuesday!

It’s very fitting that the first day of summer is expected to be hot and sunny! So what can you and your family do to celebrate this season?......Check out some options below!

OUTDOOR FUN

Want to fully soak up the sun and really get into the summer vibes? Check out some of our local parks that have great shade spots. Here is a list of some great places with good tree coverage to keep you cool while still experiencing the great outdoors:

  • Rotary Park: Check out the miles of shaded trails where you can find critters and foliage. Rotary also has a ‘big forest’ playground with enormous ‘logs’ to jump and climb. Want to cool down even more? Go creek stomping, have a picnic in the pavillion or explore the amazing Nature Center with air conditioning! (Location: 2308 Rotary Park Drive)
  • Clarksville Greenway: Want a paved area that is still cool? Then the Greenway is your place! There is a 9 mile paved trail underneath beautiful trees along a former railway track. A great spot to take kids for a bike-ride or just a family walk! (Location: 1101 Pollard Rd)
  • Dunbar Cave State Park: Another location with trails to hike–but with an extra fun surprise! As the name suggests- there is an historic cave to explore. A well-known location in Clarksville- many seek Dunbar Cave for a place to explore even if you can’t go inside the cave. Why not start summer with a classic Clarksville location?! (Location: 401 Old Dunbar Cave Rd)
  • Splash Pads: Clarksville offers 4 splash pads that are completely free of charge! They are open from 10a.m.- 7p.m. A great place to cool off and get out some energy for little ones!

INDOOR FUN

  • The City Forum: Want a place that has it all? The City Forum offers bowling, laser tag, indoor putt-putt, arcade games and go-karts. They even have a great snack selection with treats to fuel you for the fun! Want a sit- down meal before or after the racetracks? Check out Dock 17 right next door!   • Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center: A classic favorite for all ages–Pinnacle offers great fun to cool off during the start of summer! They have a student lounge where student bands can sign up to play their favorite tunes. Cosmic bowling also occurs every night and Tuesday ladies bowl free from 8-11p.m. (Hours: 11a.m.- 11p.m. / Location: 430 Warfield Blvd.)
  • D&D Blacklight Mini Golf: Make your summer glow with a blacklight putt-putt experience! They even have a laser maze and classics like pool and an arcade. Want to chill and not run-around? Then check out the paint room where you paint in blacklights and watch your projects glow. Make sure to wear your best glow attire! (Hours: 12p.m.- 9p.m. / Location: 211 Holiday Drive)

SWEET TREATS

What a better way to celebrate the start of summer than a sweet treat! Whether you’re craving a good cookie, ice cream, or a cupcake– check out the great options below!

  • Crumbl Cookie: One of the newest sweet treat places in Clarksville- Crumbl Cookie is notorious for their amazing cookies. They offer a weekly menu that changes and includes unique flavors. They even have ice cream treats for those that don’t prefer a cookie. (Hours: 8a.m.- 10p.m. / Location: 2864 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. #80)
  • Golly G’s Coffee, Ice Cream, and Sweets: Whether you need a coffee pick-me-up- an amazing pastry- or the best ice cream in town—Golly G’s is the place to be. There is limited seating, so be prepared to grab it and go. Don’t want to get out of the cool car air conditioning? Golly G’s has a great drive-through to grab your treats to go!   • GiGi Cupcakes: World-renowned cupcakes right here in Clarksville! With infamous flavors and sky-high frosting–GiGi’s offers a fun treat to any summer day! They even offer options for allergy-free cupcake lovers– just make sure and call ahead to get them ordered the day before. (Hours: 10a.m.- 7 p.m. / Location: 620 Dunlop Lane #116)
